Hi there, and thanks for visiting our website.
I just came across Linda, a very nice lady from Canada, and I promised her to have a list of signature wines from Mendoza for her to try. Salud! and let us know your favorite.
You can say that I am a little bias towards Malbec, but, is there anything else?
So here is the "Malbec" only list:
- Altos Las Hormigas. Serious pepper and spice, with some crispiness and plenty of blackberries and plums. Quite dry, yet bursting with fruit. I also like Altos Las Hormigas "Reserva".
Trapiche Broquel. Memorable blacktar nose, with plenty of charred oak. Rich, deep red color with good minerals. Fresh and lively despite its weight, with big, bright fruit. With a "Velvet" finish. - Famiglia Bianchi. Spicy and peppery, lighter than previous but with ripe earthy fruit. Well balanced, with black cherry-blackberry and interesting edges.
- Henry Lagarde. Good structure in a lighter package than many, with good acidity acidity and softer tannins. Long, friendly finish. Restrained and very easy to like, almost likeMalbec Lite, in a good way.
- Rutini Wines. Fleshy, dark and nicely acidic. Well balanced and approchable, with a lovely, long, blackberry finish. Easy to sip, but not lacking character.
